Went to a beautiful outdoors Arya Samaj wedding yesterday. They ended with a Zorashtrian prayer to truly represent all parts of the family over the years. Wish I had known more about Arya Samaj type weddings before I got married - it is meaningful, Hindu without being religious, the vows are said facing each other, looking into each other's eyes, with explanations so that everyone knows truly what they are saying (may not be what they are getting into, but hey!).
I have been to an Arya Samaj funeral before and my will is going to say this is what I want. The person was truly remembered, with their favorite songs being sung and with the family not being traumatized with supplies/arrangements to the point of forgetting what they are doing, without time to think about the departed soul.
This to me, is the beauty of Indian culture. Inclusiveness.

My uncle had a Arya Samaj wedding. It IS beautiful. No mumbo-jumbo and everyone actually understands what's going on.
Yeah, I too attended one. Found it to be meaningful. But that particular wedding looked like it was more a convenient way for two 'not-really-religious' couple to please their families. I don't think they had or will ever have any more association with the Arya Samaj after that.
You'll want to add a facebook button to your blog. I just bookmarked this article, although I had to complete it manually. Simply my $.02 :)
